OWN EXPERIENCE WITH KOJIC ACID SOAP

Two days since I began using the Kojic Soap on my face and whole body I immediately noticed some suppleness of my skin. But I still have to further prove to myself the effect of the Kojic Acid. In fact, I am particularly interested on how it will affect my skin especially on the pigmentation on my left cheek, my underarm- which I am hoping will be whiter, and some other parts of my body which I also hope will be fairer. I’ll give you update on this in the weeks to come.

KOJIC ACID SOAP, HOW DOES IT WORK

Kojic acid soap is basically a skin lightener in a soap form. It is used as a skin lightening agent for people who may have freckles, sun spots, sun damaged skin and other forms of pigmentation on their face, hands and neck. Kojic acid soap also exfoliates the skin that buffs away damaged skin cells and slowly rids the skin of pigmentation and dark spots.

The kojic acid soap can be used as a regular bath soap all over the face and body to even out the skin tone.

The regular use of Kojic acid soap may help reduce the appearance of age spots, eliminate or reduce freckles, diminish skin discoloration due to pregnancy and strengthen cell activity.

The kojic acid soap is used by many Japanese men and women as part of their regular facial regimen so that their skin stays soft and vibrant.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF KOJIC ACID

Kojic Acid is generally safe to use. It does not appear to have carcinogens or cancer causing agents. Some users with sensitive skin who used kojic acid over a prolong period of time reported to have developed contact dermatitis, a form of allergic skin reaction. In order to counter this side effect, researchers found that by adding another ingredient called topical corticosteroid can help diminish such adverse reaction.

So if you have sensitive skin, it is wise to consult a doctor for proper medical advice or treatment, even before you start using kojic acid products.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF KOJIC ACID

Kojic acid is a mild inhibitor of the formation of pigment in plant and animal tissues. Thus, it is used in food such as fruits to prevent oxidative browning, as well as in preserving the red or pink color of seafood.

Kojic Acid is also used in cosmetics to preserve or change colors of substances but most especially in skin lightening. It was also found out that Kojic acid has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Thus, Kojic Acid is also claimed to treat various kinds of skin condition such as melasma, acne, pimples and even warts.

People with freckles, sun damaged skin and sun spots are often among the users of kojic acid products. Many of these users say they can see visible results within 4-6 weeks with continuous use of these skin lightening products. Kojic acid has shown to reduce excess pigmentation of the skin.

WHAT IS KOJIC ACID

This is what I have discovered about KOJIC ACID as I researched about it-

WHAT IS KOJIC ACID

According to Wikipedia, Kojic acid is a chelation agent produced by several species of fungi, especially Aspergillus oryzae, which has the Japanese common name koji.

Kojic acid is a by-product of rice fermentation in the production of sake, the Japanese rice wine. It may also be derived from a type of fungi or mushrooms. Therefore, Kojic acid is a natural product.

Kojic acid was originally discovered in Japan sometime in the 1990s.

WHY I AM CURIOUS ABOUT KOJIC ACID

I started to become curious about KOJIC ACID when a friend of mine gave me a KOJIC ACID SOAP.

While we were having a conversation, she probably had noticed a small pigmentation (discoloration) on my left cheek which I suppose was the reason that prompted her to mention about the KOJIC ACID SOAP to me. She then told me her own experience with kojic soap and that of her other friends. Thus, I became curious about this Kojic acid thing.

I have actually seen skin lightening products with Kojic acid being sold at the local Department Store and have heard my own sister mentioned about it but I was simply not interested then. I had the initial impression that Kojic Acid is some kind of a synthetic chemical that is used for skin bleaching or skin lightening.

But since the Kojic Acid soap was given to me by my friend to use and test on my face and body, I decided to make a research on it. Thus, this blog.
